TAKS exit level test for out-of-school examinees

Rockdale High School w ill offer the TAKS Exit Level Exams in March for out-of-school (OOS) examinees, district testing coordinator Lynnette Guerra announced.

Tests dates are March 5 (social studies), March 7 (ELA), March 8 (mat h) a nd Ma rch 9 ( science).

“Individuals who are no longer enrolled in school and who have not previously met minimum expectations on all sections of the TAKS test, but who have met all other graduation requirements, may register to retake the necessary sections(s),” Guerra said. “All out- of-school TAKS examinees must complete an online registration process.”

Out-of-school examinees may register online at http://www.Texas A ssessment.com/ TA KSoos. Registration will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 20.

All out-of-school TAKS exam- inees should notif y the high school counselors, 512- 430 - 6140, of their intent to test.

On the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive by 8 a.m. and report to the high school office. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a driver’s license, school ID, DPS ID, etc. to test. Examinees will not be able to take the test(s) without a picture ID, Guerra said.

Box tops for big bucks

Rockdale PTO is currently collecting “Box Tops for Education” at the elementary, intermediate and junior high campuses.

Milano Elementary’s PATCH Club is also collecting box tops.

Simply clip the box tops from participating products and send them to each campus. Each box top earns 10 cents and that money will stay at the campus the box tops are sent to.

GED classes in Rockdale on hold until Jan. 9

According to Shirley Jensen, GED coordinator, all GED classes have been cancelled for the month of December.

The last class to be held before Christmas holidays at Rockdale Junior High will be on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 9.

2011-12 yearbooks on sale for spring delivery

RISD yearbooks are now on sale. The book will have a spring delivery date (on or before May 21), which makes it possible for students to have their friends and classmates sign their books before classes dismiss for summer.

With a spring delivery, the yearbook pages for prom, graduation, valedictorian /salutatorian, honor graduates, 8th grade promotion, and 8th grade dance will be printed as a supplement.

The supplement will have an adhesive strip that will easily insert into the back of the yearbook. These pages will have an early summer delivery date.

High school yearbook prices are $45 if purchased before Jan. 1 and $ 55 if purchased after Jan. 1.

Parents, it is not too late to get your senior brag ads.

RHS iTigers starting soccer program

Rockdale High School’s iTigers program is sponsoring an after school soccer program for high school aged students, grades 9- 12, coordinator Denise Doss has announced.
