Milano staff, students go back to classes on Monday morning

Hope everyone had a great time bringing in the new year. Age has caught up with me. I slept through the turning of the year.

Milano faculty and students will return to school on Monday Jan. 9 at their regular class and bus schedules. The school year is halfway over.

MISD will have a staff development day on Monday, Jan. 16 and st udents w ill have a holiday.

Congratulations to Josh and Jamie Lopez on the arrival of their new daughter Shelby Keelyn Lopez on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Shelby weighed six pounds seven ounces and was 17.5 inches long. She is also welcomed by big sister Audrey and grandparents Phillip and Sarah Lopez and great grandfather Cecil Hurt, all of Milano.

We st ill have some in t he community under the weather. My brother- in- law Roy Gene Miller is still at Scott and White in Temple. We send get well wishes to all.

In spor ts action, the Lady Eagles basketball team will start district games this week as they play in Holland on Friday and in Granger on Tuesday. Start time is 5 p.m. both days.

The No. 10 ranked Milano Eagles will host Snook for junior varsity and varsity games on Friday. They w ill then host Giddings on Tuesday. Star t time is at 5 p.m. for both days as well.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
