A ‘SMOOTHER’ 2012—The new year brought some welcome traffic down Texas Street for the congregation of Rising Star Baptist Church. Members of the church, which is building a new sanctuary (background) have been asking the county and city to fix the rough and sometimes muddy dirt street and that project began on Tuesday. Precinct 2 Commissioner Kenneth Hollas, and several employees were on the scene to begin a process which will lead to a gravel driving surface. Texas Street is partially inside the Rockdale city limits and partially in Precinct 2. It is the only road that serves the church and a major city well and ground storage complex.
