Citation follows fire call for RVFD Saturday morning
A “building on fire” call for the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, ended with a citation being issued for violation of the city’s burning ordinance.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said volunteers responded to 345 South FM 908, within the city limits of Rockdale, to find a burning structure. Full Story

Arrest follows sex assault investigation
A 22-year-old Milano man was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child Sunday, following an investigation by Deputy Sheriff Jay Beathard.
Nathan Paul Stowe remains in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Three draw sentences
CAMERON—Three persons were sentenced last week in 20th District Court, according to Prosecutor Kerry Spears, who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Edward Jay Herrera, 41, Rockdale, pleaded no contest to indecency with a child, seven years deferred adjudication probation, 90-day jail term, no contact with victims or any child under age 18. Full Story
DPS probes two wrecks
No injuries were reported in two traffic accidents investigated by troopers in South Milam County during the past week.
Trooper Donald Delukie said a one-vehicle accident at 8:34 a.m. Monday involved a vehicle driven by Edward Garcia, 25, of Lucedale, Mississippi.
Damages were termed moderate. Delukie said the accident occurred during a rainstorm. Full Story
