TWO EXTREMES—Area fire departments dealt with two extremes over the weekend. At 3:34 p.m. Friday (above), Black Jack and Rockdale VFDs responded to a grass blaze just across the Burleson-Milam County line on FM 908, south of Rockdale. Three days later a front moved through the area with heavy rainfall and lighting. The Rockdale VFD was called to lightning strikes at two rural homes north of Rockdale, at 2:11 a.m. Monday at 10880 North FM 487 and again 27 minutes later at 855 North FM 908.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
