MISD students out on Monday

Milano ISD students will have no school on Monday, Jan. 16. It is a staff development day throughout the district.

Milano PATCH Club, the district’s parent-teacher organization, will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at the elementary school. All interested teachers and parents are encouraged to attend.

That group is also still collecting “Box Tops for Education” as part of their fund-raising activities this year. You can find them on several grocery items. Just cut them out and send them to school with your child or get them to me and I will get them to the PATCH Club.

It’s free money for our school. The group has a goal of collecting $500 in box tops for this school year. Let’s us as a community help them out.

Milano Evening Lions Club w ill host its annual pancake supper on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Milano Civic Center. More information on this event will come soon. Lions Club members will observe the club’s 25th anniversary at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Milano Civic Center. A special invitation is issued for the charter members to attend and take part. The club organized and installed 28 members on Jan. 10, 1987.

Current and all former members and their guests will need to make reservations for the meal by contacting Eldon Ball, 448 CR 338, Milano TX 76556, telephone 455-6451, or club secretary Nell McMinn, 125 N. Main St., Rockdale TX 76567, telephone 446-4000.

A $ 10 registration fee w ill include a pork loin meal catered by Touch of Elegance. Speaker for the event will be attorney Wayne Fisher.

A big “ happy bir thday ” to Cecil Hurt who turned 94 on Jan. 11.

A belated happy birthday to t wo of my brother- in- laws— Roy Gene Miller on Jan. 7 and Wayne Lee on Jan. 9.
