Gerren

Services for Glenda Raye Gerren, 75, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Luther Shelander officiating. Burial will follow in Minerva Cemetery in Minerva.

Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gerren died Sunday, Jan. 15, in Round Rock Scott & White Hospital.

She was born Aug. 26, 1936, in Milam County to Nicholas and Mary Elizabeth (Isbell) Dyer.

Mrs. Gerren attended Durham Business College.

She married Edward William Gerren on Nov. 11, 1955, in Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Minerva.

A lifelong Minerva resident, Mrs. Gerren had worked as a medical transcriptionist for Central Texas Hospital in Cameron and Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale, retiring in 1987, and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling, cooking and sewing.

Mrs. Gerren was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son on March 27, 1958, and a sister, Nickie Dyer Slaughter, in December 1965.

Survivors are her husband, Edward Gerren of Minerva; four sons, Eddie Gerren and wife Patti of Taylor, Kenny Gerren and wife Elaine, Ricky Gerren and wife Rachel and Mike Gerren and wife Diana, all of Rockdale; two brothers, W.T. Dyer and wife Winnie of Minerva, Ronnie Dyer and wife Judy of Elroy; and three sisters, Joyce Betchan and husband Stanley of Rockdale, Judy Mills and husband Billy of Medina, June Withers and husband John of Bryan; also, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Gerren, Christopher Gerren, Evan Gerren, Joshua Gerren, Wesley Gerren, Jacob Gerren and Jared Gerren.

Honorary pallbearers are Josh Connell, Rudy Mikeska and Allen Parker.
