Sanders Sanders Juniors to have open campus lunch Thursday

As the result of a recent incentive program, students from Rockdale High School classified as juniors will be rewarded with an “off campus lunch” on Thursday, principal Joey Geletka announced.

“All juniors will be given documentation which must be completed and signed by a parent and returned to the high school office prior to the lunch and will serve as their pass,” he said.

The “off campus lunch” will be held Jan. 26 during the students’ normal lunch period. Only students with completed and returned documentation will be allowed to leave campus.

Rockdale Elementary parents night Tuesday

Parents night, a way to give parents information on ways to help their child’s academic development, will be held at Rockdale Elementary School on Tuesday, Jan. 31, according to principal Sandee Calame.

The event will take place from 6-7 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria.

“Parents are invited to come to the school and learn ways to help their child in the learning experience,” Calame said.

Band boosters set annual spaghetti supper

Rockdale Band Boosters have set their annual spaghetti supper fundraiser for Monday, Feb. 12 at the junior high commons, club president Monete Schweitzer announced.

The event will run from 5- 8 p.m. with “to go” plates available at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $8 per person.

Entertainment will include performances from sixth grade through high school bands.

Sanders named to honors list at Sul Ross

ALPINE—Thomas Sanders of Milano, has been named to the Dean’s Honor List for the fall 2011 semester.

Sanders, a 2011 graduate of Milano High School and the son of David and Sharon Sand- ers, earned a 3.75 grade point average for the semester. Students must have a minimum 3.3 GPA and enroled in at least 12 credit hours.

Jordan on Dean’s List at Herkimer County CC

HERKIMER, NY— Paxton Shane Jordan of Thorndale has been named to the Dean’s list at Herkimer County Community College.

Majoring in Business: Sports & Recreation Management, Jordan was one of 600 students to earn academic honors for the fall 2011 semester.

RHS iTigers starting soccer program

Rockdale High School’s iTigers program is sponsoring an after school soccer program for high school aged students, grades 9-12, coordinator Denice Doss has announced.

Financial aid meeting Feb. 15 for RHS seniors

Rockdale High School will host a FAFSA and TASFA assistance meeting for RHS seniors and parents at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the RHS library, counselor Dorothy Wright announced.

Information will also be provided in Spanish. Presented by Texas A&M financial aide advisor Roy Lopez.

Rockdale HS sets May 25 graduation date

Rockdale High School graduation wil be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, according to principal Joey Geletka.

The ceremonies will be held at Tiger Football Field, weather permitting. The alternate location in case of rain is the RHS gym.
