Band boosters spaghetti supper set Monday

Rockdale Band Boosters have set their annual spaghetti supper fund-raiser for Monday, Feb. 6 at the junior high commons, club president Monette Schweitzer announced.

The event will run from 5-8 p.m. with “to go” plates available at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $ 8 per person. Entertainment will include performances from all RISD bands.

For ticket sales, contact any Tiger musician or band directors Adrian Acevedo and Lance Walker.

Rockdale PTO to meet

The nex t meet ing for t he Rockdale PTO (Parent-Teacher) group w ill be from 6- 7 p. m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Rockdale Junior High commons area, spokesperson Melissa Reynosa announced.

Child care will be provided and all parents of RISD students are invited to attend.

FOR bake sale Tuesday

The Rockdale High School Friends of Rachel Club will sponsor a bake sale and concession stand at the last girls basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 7, RHS iTiger coordinator Denice Doss announced. Proceeds will go to Relay For Life.

“All are encouraged to attend and to come out and support our girls’ basketball and help the FOR Club raise funds for this important event,” Doss said.

Area students named to Baylor Univ. Dean’s list

WACO—Nole A. Opperman of Lexington and Lindsey Lee Hicks of Caldwell were named to the Dean’ts Academic Honor List for the fall 2011 semester at Baylor University. Both are studyig in the College of Arts and Sciences.

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Dykes on Iowa Lakes college Dean’s list

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA—Ashleigh D ykes, of Milano, was named to the Dean’s list at Iowa Lakes Community College for the fall 2011 semester.

Students must earn a grade point average of 3.25 or better and be enrolled in at least 12 credits hours.

Financial aid meeting

Rockdale High School will host a FAFSA and TASFA assistance meeting for RHS seniors and parents at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the RHS library, counselor Dorothy Wright announced.

Information will also be provided in Spanish. Presented by Texas A&M financial aide advisor Roy Lopez.

Big Blue Band looking for Disney World help

Rockdale’s Big Blue Band is raising funds for a trip to Disney World this summer.

“We welcome all Rockdale businesses to sponsor this event for up to $500 and help our students have a performance and a trip of a lifetime,” director of band Adrian Acevedo said. “We would like to have all sponsorships secured by Feb. 15.”
