Focused solidly on the playoff horizon, the Rockdale Tigers made a statement as the second half of district play began.
Holding off a pesky LaGrange team, the Tigers collected a key road win, 53-50, Tuesday night to kick off the second round of District 23-3A action.
The Tigers are 18- 8 on the season and 5-1 in district, trailing Navasota (17-9, 6-0) by one game. Full Story

No. 6 Eagles push season winning streak to 20 games
Milano jumps off second half of district with win
The No. 6 Milano Eagles began the second round of District 27A play on the road Tuesday night at Thrall with a 53-34 victory.
The Eagles’ (24-1, 6-0) winning streak is now at 20.
The Tigers kept pace w ith Milano, down just 11-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles stretched their lead to 23-16 by halftime. Full Story
Lady Dogs clinch title
Headed for post season for the eighth straight year
For the eighth season in a row (while in two different classifications), the No. 6 Thorndale Lady Dogs are headed to the postseason.
The team’s 40-36 road win over Academy on Tuesday night also clinched them the 27-2A district title. It is the first league title since 2010. Full Story
Bulldogs keeping pace for playoffs

After mising the playoffs last season for the first time since 2002, the Thorndale Bulldogs are taking steps to erase that memory.
The Bulldogs chalked up two important victories in the past seven days, claiming wins over Cameron and Academy.
The Bulldogs stand 18-7 on the season and 8-2 in district play, second to only No. 4 ranked Jarrell who is 27-0 and 10-0. Full Story
Lady Eagles hanging tough in race for playoff position
Loss to Thrall hands Tigerettes the 27A crown
The Thrall Tigerettes claimed the District 27A crown on Tuesday night as they took down the Milano Lady Eagles 36-23.
Milano now falls to 3- 4 in league action, are 10-12 on the season and must beat Bartlett on the road Feb. 7 to stay in the hunt for one of the final two playoff spots. Full Story

Tiger teammates named to second All-State team
The outstanding efforts of two Rockdale football players have been recognized once again as Cody Skubal and James David were named to the Texas Sportswriters Association Class 3A All-State team. Full Story
