Skubal, David selected as all-state on TSWA squad

Tiger teammates named to second All-State team

The outstanding efforts of two Rockdale football players have been recognized once again as Cody Skubal and James David were named to the Class 3A All-State team.

Skubal and David were named honorable mention, the same position they were awarded on the team in December.

Taking full advantage of an absentee Rockdale running game, and with sticky fingered finesse, the 6-foot-3 senior Skubal broke every receiving record in the books with 52 catches for 910 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The future also bodes well for linebacker James David, who while just a sophomore, was also named honorable mention all-state.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder led the Tigers in tackles with 118 and also led District 23-3A with two interceptions.

Navasota quarterback Kadarius Baker was named the second team quarterback after throwing for over 2,300 yards and 33 scores against just two picks.

Navasota defensive lineman Jake Bauer and linebackers Will Imhoff and Jaylyin Minor made the second team, while Solomon McGinty was third team.

Lexington placed six players on the Class 2A team, led by guard Will Holcomb, defensive lineman Todd Glass and linebacker Antonio Washington, who were chosen first-team.

Quarterback Kogan Garrett and defensive back Josh Murray were second-team picks, while Murray was also selected as a wide receiver on the third team. Receiver Jason Washington was honorable mention.

Cameron defensive lineman Edgar Luna was third team.
