Thorndale Chamber ‘wild’ over quilting project

By DARLEEN TUCKER
TACC Secretary

Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce Quilt Committee met on Jan. 24 in the Chamber of Commerce building to piece together the raffle quilt for 2012.

The quilt, “The Wild Thing,” is constructed of 100 percent cotton material in the Carpenter’s Star pattern using hot pink giraffe print, black and white zebra print and black to create an interesting pinwheel pattern. Committee members Sarah Beard, Donna Johnston, and Rosalie Biar worked as a team for approximately seven hours to cut, piece and construct the quilt top.

Teamwork paid off as the quilt top came together as planned and is now ready to be quilted. The quilting will be done by Donna Johnston of Quilting by Donna Lou, a new business in Thorndale. The quilt will also have its own custom bag which is being constructed by Sarah Beard. Raffle tickets will be on sale soon.

All of this work is in prepa- ration for the TACC Quilt Show which will be held in conjunction with the third annual TACC Classic Car Show, Louis Run and Arts and Crafts Fair in downtown Thorndale on Saturday, March 24. The Quilt Show will feature a door prize of a table runner, made by Sarah Beard, which features a fall motif on one side and a Christmas theme on the other. The events of the day are a fundraiser for a scholarship for a deserving senior at Thorndale High School and to fund other community projects of the TACC.

The Louis Run Motorcycle event will include a tour of the Central Texas area and the Arts and Crafts Fair will be in the downtown area on FM 486 South. Plan to join us in this fun-filled day.
