TAYLOR

3-8, 3rd in 25-3A. These two blood rivals have not faced off since 2009, interrupting a 57-year streak. The Ducks have struggled mightily under Coach Rick Cobia, going 19-42 in his six-year tenure with six straight losing seasons. The Tigers have won two straight against the quackers by the combined score of 99-35. Series: Taylor leads 45-31-3. Enrollment: 882. Distance from Rockdale: 24 miles.

MADISONVILLE

3-7, 3rd in 25-3A. The Mustangs have not posted a winning season since 2007. The Tigers have faced the Mustangs for the past six years but were last in a district with them in 2009. When these two teams play, it’s like a game of rock-em, sock-em robots, with not much scoring. Series: Tied 6- 6. Enrollment: 613. Distance from Rockdale: 84 miles.

COLLEGE STATION

This spanking new high school made up of sophomores and freshmen, just recently hired its football coach/athletic director Steve Huff and the Cougars will not compete at the varsity level in football. Enrollment: 917. Distance from Rockdale: 57 miles.

CALDWELL

1-9, last in 23-3A. Hornets suffered through their worst season in 13 years under new coach Chance Locklear. Rockdale and Caldwell have been connected in a district for 42 years. Series: RHS leads 30-26. Enrollment: 538. Distance from Rockdale: 25 miles.

NAVASOTA

11-2, 23-3A champions. The Rattlers just keep reloading year-after-year and have dominated district play. In the past five years, the snakes are 49-13 overall and 23-4 in district and have beaten the Tigers six straight times. They return firstteam all-state quarterback Kadarius Baker. Series: Navasota leads 6-5. Enrollment: 749. Distance from Rockdale: 76 miles.
