Agenda wording triggers questions; MDD executive director position okayed
The Rockdale City Council heard some criticism about the way it operates Monday night.
That’s not unusual, but the source was. It came from a council member.
“I feel like we don’t communicate among ourselves,” Councilman Allan Miller said. “I feel like I’m almost looked down on if I communicate with anyone outside of meetings.” Full Story

Lady Tigers set on another run
Perfect mix of veterans and newcomers
Up until the very last at-bat, the Rockdale Lady Tigers had to scrape and claw their way into the state playoffs in 2011.
They’re hoping that it might not be so dramatic this time around.
The Lady Tigers returned to their usual post-season routine last season, but had to hold off Caldwell in a third place playoff to do so. Full Story

Will face Smithville again Friday in Giddings to decide playoff position
A funny thing happened to the Rockdale Tigers on the way to the state playoffs—they forgot how they got there.
While the Tigers once had hopes of at least sharing the district crown with Navasota, they have stumbled, including Tuesday night, as Smithville jumped out early and then poured it on as Tiger opportunity slipped away at the end in a convincing 67-49 victory. Full Story

State tax revenue up for 22 consecutive months
AUSTIN—Texas Comptroller Susan Combs sent out $708.5 million in February sales tax allocations last week to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose tasking districts. That is up 8.2 percent compared to February 2011. Full Story
