Incumbents say ‘yes’ and ‘no’

Milano, Thorndale ISDs get candidates for May voting

It’s two in and two out, so far as incumbents in the May 12 Rockdale city and school ballots.

Incumbent east ward city council member Willie Phillips signed up for re-election during the past week, while school trustee Wayne Fisher confirmed that he would not seek a new term to his Place 2 position.

Prev iously, west ward cit y council member Allan Miller had told The Reporter he would not seek a new term and incumbent Place 1 trustee Mike Pruett had filed for re-election to the school board.

Former city councilman Tom Fisher has filed for the west ward council seat being vacated by Miller.

City candidates may file weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through March 5 at City Hall.

Rockdale ISD school board candidates can file weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (4 p.m. on Fridays) at the Central Administration Building.

Final day to file is Monday, March 5.

HOSPITAL DISTRICT—The Reporter has been advised by the Rockdale Hospital District that three positions will be filled on May 12.

Terms expiring are those of incumbents Dr. Lucile Estell (Place 2, east ward), Karolyn Puccio (Place 4, west ward) and Dick Burns (at large).

Candidates may obtain a filing form in the lobby of Richards Memorial Hospital.

MILANO—Incumbent Lynette Taylor and challenger Danice Hurt are seeking the one-year unexpired term currently held by Taylor.

Gary Steinbecker filed for an atlarge three-year position. Those terms are currently held by Alden Crowe and John Yakesch.

There have been no filings yet for the unexpired one-year term created by the recent resignation of Margaret Plentl.

No filings were reported for the Milano City Council where terms expiring are those of Mayor Billy Barnett and council members Carol Newman and Jerry Hall.

Filing for both city and school offices is at the Milano ISD super- intendent’s office during regular hours.

THORNDALE—The Thorndale ISD recorded its first filing on Monday when incumbent Ann Glenn signed up for a new term.

Term of incumbent Dave Denny is also expiring in 2012.

Thorndale ISD candidates can file in the superintendent’s office.

There have also been no filings for the Thorndale City Council where terms of incumbent council members Jack Willis, Gerald Niemtschk and Sam Pickett are expiring in 2012.

Filing is at City Hall.
