Della Mekush (right), Cameron area resident who was severely injured in a horseback riding accident last August, received a $1,870 check last week raised by the Marr Family of Thorndale. Seven cases heard in 20th District Court
CAMERON—Seven cases were disposed of last week in 20th District Court.
Prosecutor Kerry Spears listed case dispositions as follows:
• Jarrod Langston Barrett, 35, Tyler, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence, seven-year prison term, probated five years, substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment. Full Story

Appraisal district, Luminant $1.2 million apart on value
Milam Count y Judge Dave Barkemeyer, reporting to county commissioners on a financial update Monday, said the appraisal district and Luminant have not yet agreed on value amount and a lawsuit remains pending. Full Story
Two wrecks in early-morning fog
Troopers were called to a pair of accidents Tuesday morning as fog again descended on the Rockdale area.
Both were on FM 487 just north of the city limits and were worked by Trooper Erik Gaston.
Gaston said a one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:59 a.m. and involved a vehicle operated by Jose Gonzalez, 23, of Cameron. Full Story
Commercial shredder to visit Feb. 24th
Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and the Rockdale Rotary Club will again sponsor a commercial shredder for businesses and individuals.
The shredder will be on the grounds of the Chamber office, 1203 W. Cameron Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. All materials will be destroyed on site. Full Story
