Garden clubs support annual Tejas Festival

Linwood Acres Garden Club will hold its annual plant exchange during the Tejas Festival on March 3. “It’s a great time to start transplanting, start seedlings and start thinking about what you can dig up for the plant exchange,” said Janice King, publicist.

Yard art made by members of the club will be available for purchase. “A table will be set up for children to experience the joy of gardening by planting a seed to take home and watch grow,” King said. A yard decoration put together by Garden Treasures will be the raffle item.

Linwood Acres Club will join with Crown Garden Club for a plant sale at 231 E. Cameron Street, next to The Rockdale Reporter.

Linwood Acres Club’s February meeting was held at the home of Anna Duncum with 15 members, 2 associate members and 5 guests attending. Dr. Lucile Estelle and Joy Graham were co-hosts. Jane Cohen, District V director of Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., was special guest.

Theme was “For the Love of a Rose.” Glenn Schroeter, production manager for Antique Rose Emporium, spoke on the history and care of roses. A mini-program on “Hummingbirds and Butterflies” was shared by King.
