Thanks for supporting band spaghetti supper

Dear editor,

I would like to personally thank each and every Rockdale community member for helping the Rockdale Band Boosters pull off another successful spaghetti supper fund raiser.

This was our biggest year ever.

From ever y musician who sold tickets to ever y parent, fami ly member, f r iend a nd neighbor who purchased them, thank you.

Thanks also to:

Becky Marek, who graciously volunteered her time, once again auctioning the senior cakes; directors Adrian Acevedo and Lance Walker, for working tirelessly chasing down musicians for two weeks to collect every dinner ticket sold. (I know this is a daunting task in itself).

To James Bedwell, for donating all of the bread; to Sue Davenport, for donating 100 percent of the spaghetti noodles.

To Mike Brown of The Reporter, for always being there to photograph and publish our event; to all the Band Booster parents; to our incredible band booster officers, Maggie Davenport,

Gina Whitsel, Kristy Moreland. Dana Pendleton and each of their husbands and family members who worked the entire dinner with smiles on their faces.

To my husband, Matt along with my kiddos, Luke, Lane and Lilly, who helped shop, cook, lift and prepare this dinner and every Band Booster event for the past four years.

I’m a Rockdale native and alumni of the “Big Blue Band from Tigerland” and know the benefits of participating in music.

All Band Booster profits are used to support sixth through 12th grade musicians.

Our expenses include helping with trips (this year, the symphonic band to Six Flags and the RHS Band to Disney World), new uniforms, new drum major uniforms, $5,500 in senior scholarships and the annual band banquet.

I’m proud to be part of a great organization.

“ Band Nerds” rock, young and old

2011-12 Band Booster president
