Friday’s sixth annual Rockdale Athletic Booster Club Father-Daughter Dance in the Patterson Civic Center was the largest ever, no mater how it’s measured. Denise Betchan, club spokesman, said 350 persons attended and the event raised $3,500. All proceeds go toward the booster club’s annual scholarships, which are awarded each May. Full Story

A 36-year- old Milano man turned himself in Thursday to face charges stemming from a foot chase the previous day.
Chief Deputy Chris White said Curtis Wayne Huddleston was charged with evading arrest/ detention with prev ious conviction and was released after posting a $10,000 bond. Full Story

Rockdale native gets 30-year pin with Corps of Engineers
Rockdale native Willie Mack recently earned his 30 - year service pin with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District.
Son of Obie and Pearlie Mack of Rockdale and a 1968 graduate of Rockdale High School, Mack and his wife Sheila reside in Denton. They are the parents of four children, a daughter and three sons (including twins). Full Story
First of four ‘Gateway Monuments’ dedicated
The first of four planned ‘Gateway Monuments’ at entrances to Rockdale was dedicated Saturday morning at the US 77-FM 908 intersection.
The monuments are projects of the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD). Gary Griesbach, MDD president, made a few remarks and Alpha Tau Delta Sorority made a $2,500 donation to the project. Full Story
