Last weekend Maxine and Donnie McBee spent the weekend with relatives in Houston. They went especially to watch grandson Dustin McBee participate in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble. Milam jobless rates up half a point
Unemployment had been lowest since July 2009

After two consecutive months of jobless numbers in Milam County being the lowest since April 2011, the county’s unemployment rate is now back up to 9.3 percent this month, according to reports released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). AUSTIN—Texas Comptroller Susan Combs sent out $473.6 million in March sales tax allocations last week to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose tasking districts. That is up 9.3 percent compared to March 2011.
Combs said that state sales tax revenue in February was $2.01 billion, up 14.8 percent compared to February 2011. Full Story
