4-H council and leaders meetings set for March 20

4-H Council and Leaders meeting is set for March 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron.

The Council will elect officers for the 2012 2013 Year.

Major items for Council Meeting: Officer Election; Budget Adoption; Leadership Training.

Major items for Leaders Meeting: Raffle Discussion and Club Chartering.

Joint Meeting Topics: Celebration Date Selection and Sign-Up for Ag in the Classroom, Foods Workshop, Water Camp, etc.

4-H Council Sign Up

If you are a 4-Her 12 years of age and older, you can sign-up to be a Milam County Council Member. As a member you can run for an office on Council at the March 20th meeting and serve as a voting member of your club.

The deadline has been extended until March 14.

Slogan Entries Due Mar. 20

Do you have an idea for the Milam County 4-H Slogan Contest?

Each year a 4-H Slogan Contest is conducted in Milam County. The slogan is used on 4-H newsletters, at the annual awards celebration, for the annual calendar handout and lot more.

4-Hers are asked to submit their ideas for the slogan contest by March 20.

Slogans will be accepted at the March 20 4-H Council meeting or prior to the meeting by emailing ce- walker@tamu.edu or mailing to the Extension Office.

During the March 20th council meeting, leaders will select the winning slogan. The slogan winner will be recognized at the annual 4-H Celebration Event and will receive a check for $15 as the slogan winner.

Last year’s winning slogan was, “4-H .... Green and Growing!” by Jacob Pedroza, Thorndale 4-H.

4-H Horse Judging Team Competes at Houston Livestock Show

Congratulations to the Milam County 4H Horse Judging Teams. The team of Darci Denio,

Gracen Dach, Emily Graham, and Sydney Vaculin placed 10th out of 48 teams at the Houston

Livestock Show and Rodeo Horse Judging Contest. The team of Brody Sexton, Braden Sexton,

Jale Walzel, and Jistol Walzel placed 17th. Gracen was also 29th high individual out of 158 competitors.

Great job to these kids and their coach Monica Barton.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
