Keyboard Melody Makers take part in music festival at UMHB

Local piano students, members of the Keyboard Melody Makers Junior Club, recently participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Junior Festival held at the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor, Belton, according to their piano teacher, Dixie Whitmore.

More than 175 students from the Central Texas area performed at the festival in piano, hymn playing, violin, cello and voice.

Keyboa rd Melody Ma ker s Junior Club members participating in piano and hymn playing were Ashton Betchan, Brian Blanchard, Emilie Compton, Geritt Davenport, Mattie Fisher, Kaybee Nelson, Abigail Olson, Allyson Page, Peyton Shuffield, Mary Unnasch and Robby Whitehead receiving superior and excellent ratings.

Fisher and Nelson earned their first gold cup in piano. Olson and Unnasch earned their first gold cups in piano and hymn playing categories.

Keyboa rd Melody Ma ker s Junior Club, with Whitmore as counselor, is sponsored by the Matinee Musical Club, a member of the Texas and National Federation of Music clubs.
