The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the first annual Milam County Festival Barbecue Cookoff and 65 teams will recreate the aromatic alley in exactly the same place as the Rockdale Fair’s each fall. Full Story

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce has a brand new slate of officers less than two weeks before its annual banquet as the board’s three officers submitted their resignations last week.
Chairperson Becky Booker Marek, chair-elect Lindsay Cleveland and treasurer Michelle Morgan all resigned last Wednesday, citing “time constraints.” Full Story

Girls haven’t played in a week due to weather
Hoping to use a big win over Salado to vault them into league play, the Rockdale Lady Tigers hopes were doused by the rainy weather.
Instead, the 8- 6 Lady Tigers will have to wait one more day to lift the lid on the District 23-3A chase, hosting Smithville (2-10) Wednesday.

Homeowners can reduce their property tax bills in 2012 by taking advantage of homestead exemptions offered by counties, cities, school districts, and other local taxing units, according to Chief Appraiser Pat Moraw.
