St. John’s plans special Easter services, events, annual sunrise service
St. John’s United Methodist Church will observe Palm/Passion Sunday, April 1 at 11 a.m., with the procession of the palms by the children and choir. Six dramatic readings of Jesus’ suffering and death are to be read, with special music.
A special Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 5 in the sanctuary. On Holy Thursday, the service commemorates the supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion, when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and instituted the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.
An Easter egg hunt is planned for Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. All children pre-school through 5th grade are invited to come and bring their Easter baskets for the hunt. It is to be held on the hill east of the church.
St. John’s will host the annual Community Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. April 8. It is to be held on the hillside lot just east of the sanctuary. A breakfast in the fellowship hall will follow the service.

Gause Baptist Church plans sunrise service
GAUSE—Members of Gause Baptist Church invite the public to join them at an Easter Sunrise Service to be held at 7 a.m. on the church lawn.
Easter egg hunt set April 7 at St. Paul’s
THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran Church will host an Easter egg hunt on the church and school grounds at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7 and the children of the community are invited. The event is funded by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans/Brazos River Chapter.
St. Paul Lutheran also invites the public to its Easter services: Sunrise service at 7 a.m., presented by the church youth; Sunday school at 9:15 a.m.; and Easter Sunday morning worship at 10:15 a.m.
Aglow Spring Gathering this weekend at Salado
The Heart of Texas Area Aglow Spring Gathering will be held March 23-25 at the Stagecoach Inn in Salado, with the purpose of empowering individuals with increased faith and activation of the gifts of the Spirit.
Featured speakers are Mickey and Sandie Freed from Zion Ministries in Hurst. Worship will be led by New Orleans natives Bob and Cindy Guidry. RSBC women’s Bible study held weekly
The ladies ministry of Rising Star Baptist Church invites all women to attend Bible study at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday at Rising Star Church, 1022 Texas Street in Rockdale. Topic March 25 through May 6 will be “Courageous for Women.”
A copy of the movie Courageous will be available for check out for anyone wanting to preview before the study begins on March 25.

Annual Rising Star golf event Saturday
Rising Star Baptist Church will hold its annual Golf Classic on Saturday, March 24 at Blackhawk Golf Course in Pflugerville. Registration will start at 11 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m., according to spokesperson Jo Ann Bradford. Proceeds go to the church’s building fund.
Jews for Jesus present Passover at Milano FBC
MILANO—Milano First Baptist Church invites the public to a presentation of “Christ in the Passover” on Thursday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m., according to Pastor Dave Lucas. Admission is free.
Bob Mendelson, leader of Jews for Jesus in Australia, will recreate the traditional Passover service and detail the significance of the traditional table items.
