MHS One-Act Play group advances
Milano High School’s One- Act Play advanced from north zone contest on Monday afternoon and will be one of four plays competing at the district contest on Saturday at Brenham High School. Plays will begin at 1 p.m. with Milano performing second.
This year’s cast and crew are performing (sf) “To Kill A Mockingbird” in competition this year. On Monday, the group also brought home numerous awards from zone contest that was held at the Yoe High School Performing Arts Center in Cameron.
Dylan Eastland was named best actor and Stonie Guthrie earned best actress. Hayleigh Lagrone received all-star cast honors, with Dominique Messer and Brandon Garza being named to the honorable mention all-star cast. Milano OAP’s crew of Derek Walton, Samantha Waldrep, Tyler Blake, Shelby Davenport and Ashley Decker were named best crew.
Milano High School’s National Honor Society and Student Council groups are joining together to sponsor the “Race to the Oak Trees Milano 5K” on Saturday, March 31. Registration will also be open until 8:30 a.m. on race day. The race will start at 9 a. m. that day in front of the high school. Cost is $ 20 per person. Milano Athletic Booster Club is hold ing t he t hird a nnua l Alumni Softball Tournament on Saturday, April 21. All alumni, parents of alumni or parents of current Milano students, Booster Club members and Milano facult y members are inv ited to play. Teams are allowed one non-alumni player. There will be full concessions available, auctions and lots of family fun. Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary annual Spring Garage Sale will be April 12-14. The Civic Center/ Fire Station will be open at 8 a.m. beginning Monday April 9 for donations.
