‘Trash Stash’ Day March 31 at Fair Park

Cit y of Rockdale residents are invited to a free “Stash Your Trash” Day from 8 a.m. to 12- noon, Saturday, Marc h 31, at Fair Park.

City Manager Kelvin Knauf said rolloff containers will be at the park for disposal of miscellaneous household items, including old furniture, mattresses and more.

“ These items may a lso be placed curbside during regular trash collection dates,” he said.

Knauf said no motor oil nor tires will be accepted. “We are also unable to accept batteries and any items which contain Freon, hazardous materials or paint in liquid form,” he said.

The city’s chipper will also be set up at the park. “There will be free chipping for limbs 4 inches or smaller, but they must be brought to the park in a truck or trailer,” he said.

Residents must enter the park through the main gate on Mill Street and exit Gate 5 at Roberts Street.

“Look for signs and you will be directed to the appropriate places,” he said.

He said the stash-your-trash event is for city residents only. “Bring a driver’s license or water bill to verify residence,” he said.
