RVFD Aux. scholarship applications due Sunday

Rockdale VFD Ladies Auxiliary is offering a $500 scholarship to the son, daughter, step-son or stepdaughter of any active or retired Rockdale Volunteer Firefighter. Deadline to apply is April 1. Go by Pam’s Rockdale Beauty Shoppe or the fire station to pick up a registration form. For more information, call Pam Wages at 512- 446-5111.

Little River Healthcare to offer scholarships

Little River Healthcare Systems is taking applications for five $5,000 scholarships to a student or returning student in the healthcare field. Deadline to apply is April 30. Scholarship applications are available by calling Little River Healthcare administration office at 512- 446- 4502 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Applications are available for high school graqduates from their student advisors.

PTO officer election meeting set Tuesday

A Rockdale PTO meeting has been set for Tuesday, April 3 in the junior high commons. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and baby sitting is provided.

Officer elections will be held for 2012-2013 school year. All parents of RISD students are asked to come.

BBQ chicken Fundraiser for Project Grad Sunday

Rockdale 2012 Project Graduation will hold a barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1 at the Rockdale KC Hall. Plates are $ 8 each and will include chicken, beans, potatoes and tea, dine in or to go.

Tickets will be sold at the door until sold out or are available from Project Graduation seniors. For more information call 512- 760- 6834 or 254- 627-1025

There will also be chance tickets for sale for $ 5 each and prizes include a 46” RCA LCD/ HDTC, barbecue pit and a $100 Visa gift card.

RISD to host Family Tech Resources Night

Rockdale Junior High will host a Family Tech Resources Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 in RJH computer lab (room 126), according to Rebecca King, director of teaching and learning for the district.

“Parents and students are encouraged to attend to find out more information about the technology resources available to parents and students of Rockdale ISD,” King said.

The event will highlight Rockdale’s ISD website and the school websites, Skyward Family Access, TigerNation Symbaloo, NutriKids, Renaissance Learning, Facebook and Twitter and more.

Lehman on TWU fall Dean’s list

DENTON— Megan Lehman of Thorndale was named to the Texas Woman’s University Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester.

Undergraduate students who complete at least 12 graded credit hours and achieve the minimum grade point average as determined by their particular college or school are eligible for the dean’s list.

Lehman is majoring in psychology.

RES Pre-K, Kinder registration set April 17

Registration for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten at Rockdale Elementary School for the 2012-13 school year has been set for Tuesday, April 17.

The event will run from 3:30 to 6 p.m. See ad on page 4B for more information.
