Man linked to pistols from murder case draws indictments

CA MERON—A 39- year- old Rockdale man, found to be in possession of two pistols believed to have been at the home of a San Gabriel woman who was the victim of a 2011 murder, was indicted on three counts Thursday.

Larry Morris “June Bug” Sandles was indicted for tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of firearm by felon ( both enhanced to “habitual”) and for continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Officers were investigating a case of sexual abuse of a nineyear old girl in January when they discovered two .380-caliber pistols, and a 40-caliber handgun not related to the case—which where believed to have been at the home of Sandra Phillips when she was gunned down with a shotgun April 25, 2011.

One pistol was taken from the Phillips residence, investigators said, while the other is believed to have been brought to the house by one of the two Rockdale area men charged with the murder.

TEACHER CASE—The case of a former Rockdale ISD female teacher, under investigation by police for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a male student, was not brought before the grand jury’s March session.

No charges were filed but the case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office by police.

Other indictments Thursday were listed as follows:

William Ester Wells, 28, Cameron, violation of a protective order; Levi May, 37, Cameron, criminal mischief ($1,500 to $20,000); Victor John Vargas, 32, Temple, theft from an elderly person ($1,500 to $20,000).

Kenneth Dale Wehunt, 34, Burlington, sexual assault of a child; Bobby Glenn McGowan, 49, Cameron, and Brenda Young, 48, Cameron, injury to a child, two counts.

Dantra Santell Wilcox, 26, Cameron, delivery of controlled substance (less than one gram); D’Vaughan Andre Wiggins, 23, Cameron, assault-family violence, enhanced.

E zequiel A ri Luna, 21, Cameron, assault-family violence, impeding breath/ circulation; Sigrid Schielhas Souell, 49, Harker Heights, burglary of a habitation.

Archie Ray Emory, 42, Harker Heights, burglar y of habitation, enhanced to habitual; George Edward Mitchell Jr., 43, Rockdale, theft of copper (under $20,000), delivery of marijuana (onefourth ounce to five ounces) in drug-free zone.

Charles Er vin Cashaw, 46, Harker Heights, burglary of a building; Nathan Kurt Proctor, aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person.

Nathan Kurt Proctor, 25, Rockdale, aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person; Phyllis Gibson Hayes, 50, Buffalo, and Gregory Charles Hayes, 41, Buffalo, theft (under $1,500) with prior convictions.

Tammy Jo Spink, 42, Cameron, theft ($ 20,000 to $100,000); Bilal Abdul- Shakur, also known as Jeffrey Barnes, 40, Temple, assault- family violence, enhanced; Reginal Darnell Hamilton, 36, Rockdale, possession of a controlled substance (4 to 200 grams) with intent to deliver in a drug-free zone.
