Want proof it’s been a wetter than usual winter and early spring in the Rockdale area? Saturday’s “Stash Your Trash” Day at Fair Park provided it. The City of Rockdale offered free shredding service as part of the annual spring cleanup day and it seemed that most of Rockdale took advantage of the offer. Full Story
UW ups goal, set to raise $52,000
Organization will serve more entities in 2012
South Milam County United Way is turning its annual goal around and heading upward.
Raymon Puente, SMCUW president told The Reporter that the organization has set a $52,000 goal for 2012, up from a $50,000 goal in 2011. Full Story
Skydiver dies Sunday in fall near Lexington
A 61-year-old Austin man plummeted to his death Sunday afternoon in Lee County, during a skydiving attempt near Lexington.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, John Roznovsk y died when he leaped from a plane as part of a jump at Texas Skydiving Center off FM 696.
Texas Skydiving Center officials said Roznovsky has previous jumped 10 to 12 times. Full Story
Police search for suspect in assault, ‘home invasion’
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 31-yearold Rockdale man suspected of assaulting a woman, then breaking down two doors in an Alcoa Street home where she fled for safety.
Pedro Villanueva Salcedo is no stranger to police. He was also arrested last year on a variety of charges, including an incident in which a policeman was struck. Full Story
100 walkers offer hope, raise $3,489
One-hundred walkers gathered at the muggy Tiger Field track Saturday morning to raise funds and offer hope to teens who might be contemplating suicide.
Pam Kaufmann, spokesperson, said the second annual Out of the Darkness Walk raised $3,489 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Full Story
