High tech, low tech, no tech

Want proof it’s been a wetter than usual winter and early spring in the Rockdale area? Saturday’s “Stash Your Trash” Day at Fair Park provided it. The City of Rockdale offered free shredding service as part of the annual spring cleanup day and it seemed that most of Rockdale took advantage of the offer. “We had twice the amount of limbs and brush shredded on Saturday compared to last year.” City Manager Kelvin Knauf said. At one point early in the morning seven trailers were lined up awaiting the shredding service and city workers almost disappeared into the brush.

Also, Rockdale residents disposed of 280 cubic yards of trash, filling seven 40-cubic-yard rolloff containers to the brim. Below, city workers Cole Henson (L) and Scott Patranella load several discarded items, at least two of which are indispensable in our society in 2012.
