Spanish Assembly will hear Andrade Sunday

Spanish Assembly of God Church, 210 Houston Street in Rockdale, invites the public to hear guest speaker Pastor Ruben Andrade Jr. during the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, April 12.

Rev. Max Rosas Sr., church pastor, said: “Pastor Andrade is a compassionate, energetic voice within the Central Texas Hispanic Christian community. His diligent study and practical application of God’s Word are both insightful and extremely evident in his ministry.”

Pastor Andrade began preaching at the age of 15 and served from 1988-2005 under the ministry of his grandparents, the late Rev. Leandro and Luz Andrade who pastored a Spanish congregation at Templo Cristiano Assembly of God.

“Born and raised in a Spanishspeaking church, Pastor Ruben saw a need to reach out to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Hispanics who had relocated to Waco but no longer spoke the Spanish language,” Rev. Rosas said. “In 2005, he planted Family of Faith Worship Center, an English speaking church, in North Waco and has been senior pastor for seven years. He has 25 years of progressive ministry experience.”

Apostolic Faith revival to start here Sunday

Apostolic Faith Church, 400 West Davilla in Rockdale, will hold revival services starting Sunday, April 15, and continuing through Wednesday, April 18.

Sunday morning service will be at 11 a.m. and evening services will be at 7 p.m. Evangelist will be Rev. Randy Dalton and the public is invited.

National Prayer Day for nation is May 3

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.— Psalms 33:12.

Thursday, May 3, will be National Day of Prayer, according to an announcement by Mar y Phillips, spokesperson.

“ Meadowbrook Baptist Church sanctuary will be open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. for everyone to come pray and intercede for our nation and our community,” she said.

“Our nation is in a critical time. Please join with us that we might all stand united in the name of Jesus as one ‘Nation under God’,” she added.

Ingrid Akers to preach at St. John’s on Sunday

Ingrid Akers, former youth director at St. John’s United Methodist Church, will preach on Sunday, April 15 at the 11 a.m. worship service. Akers is a recent graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. She plans to serve her first church as a pastor in June.

Outdoor service, picnic April 29 at St. John’s

St. John’s United Methodist Church will hold an outdoor worship service on the lawn of the church at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 29, Rev. Rita Sims, pastor, has announced. A praise band from Texas A&M Wesley Foundation will provide music.

“This service will be followed by a picnic on the lawn,” she said. “Participants are invited to bring their favorite food to share.”

In case of inclement weather, worship and the picnic will be moved indoors. St. John’s is located at Hillcrest and Summit. For more information call 446-5853.

Mount Zion Church fund-raiser April 21

THORNDALE—Mount Zion Baptist Church at Thorndale will hold a Family Fun Day fund-raiser on Saturday, April 21 at Fireman’s Hall and pavilion, 304 E. Aglow Lighthouse to meet here Thursday

Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse will meet at 6:30 p.m. for fellowship and refreshments and at 7 p.m for a speaker Thursday, April 12 at Rockdale General Store, 1201 W. US 79 in Rockdale.

Speakers will be John and Charlotte Carrette, according to Sabrina Thompson, Aglow publicist. John Carrette is a member of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International. “The vision of this organization is to help believers of all churches share with others what Jesus Christ has done for them personally,” Thompson said.

“John and Charlotte note that the layman’s involvement in spreading the Good News of God’s love is growing every day around the world,” Thompson said.

John came to a personal relationship with Christ as a soldier during the war in Vietnam.

Women on Mission study Lesotho, Africa

Women on Mission of First Baptist Church in Rockdale met April 4 for mission focus. Ramona Barlow, mission study leader, presented a program on the Basotho people of Lesotho, Africa.
