Davis

Graveside services with military honors for Johnnie W. Davis, 92, of Milano were held Friday, April 6, 2012, in Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale with Rev. Rita Sims officiating.

Mr. Davis died Tuesday, April 3, at his home near Milano.

He was born March 18, 1920, in Kaufman to Luther Wesley and Maudie Blanche (Kyser) Davis.

Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He married Mary Lou Dragoo on Aug. 15, 1951, in Midland.

Mr. Davis lived the past 32 years in Milano and was formerly of Rockport and Aransas Pass.

While in the Rockport area, he was a game warden and later a farmer, taxi driver and shrimper.

Mr. Davis was a member of the Methodist Church, the DAV and VFW.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Luther Wesley Davis and Daniel Evans; his parents; two brothers, Boots Davis and Luther Wesley Davis Jr.; and two sisters, Flossy Davis and Eva Mae Langston.

Survivor are his wife, Mary Lou Davis of Milano; four sons, James O. Evans and wife Paula of Beeville, Billy R. Davis of Milano, David A. Davis and wife Connie of Corpus Christi, Stanley M. Davis and wife Cheryl of Limon, Colorado; a daughter, Johnnie Lou Davis of Milano; a brother, Billy Joe Davis of Silsby; and three sisters, Pattie May Davis Shaefer of Winnie, Mary Lou Davis Hunt of Taft and Corrine Leach of Clifton; also, 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
