Texas Longhorn show this weekend at Fair Park

Herds of horns are headed to Rockdale’s Fair Park this weekend for one of their largest registered Texas Longhorn shows in the state.

The public is invited to the free event to see some of the best of the breed in the region and experience a little bit of Texas history.

The seventh annual Rockdale Registered Texas Longhorn Show is scheduled at Fair Park Arena and sponsored by the South Texas Longhorn Association (STLA).

On Saturday, the day kicks off at 10 a.m. with an open haltered show followed by those impressive haltered trophy steers (you won’t want to miss these).

Youth will later enter the ring for the second of their three shows to demonstrate cattle and skills for a different judge at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, a cowboy church service will begin at 9 a.m., led by pastor Richard Goodwill, and then the final youth show will begin at 9:30 a.m. with everyone starting over with another new judge.

Concessions will be available at the fairgrounds throughout the weekend.
