Fire probed at candidate’s home

Cameron aut hor it ies have called in an investigator from the state fire marshal’s office following a fire and break-in Friday at the home of a judicial candidate in the May 29 Democratic Primary.

Henry Horelica, fire chief of the Cameron VFD, said the home of Norman and Peggy Lanford, 3202 North Travis, sustained some heat and smoke damage but was extinguished quickly by firefighters,

Lanford, a Cameron attorney, is seeking the office of 20th District Judge.

Police said the home was broken into, and some items were stolen, before the fire.

BUSY WEEKEND—There were seven alcohol related arrests booked into the Milam County Jail during the weekend, including DWI, public intoxication and minor in possession of alcohol.
