Milam GOP names delegates

CAMERON—Milam County Republicans gathered for their 2012 county convention Saturday at the courthouse, according to Bill Whitmire, county chair.

He said delegates and alternated to t he June 7- 9 state convention in Fort Worth were selected as follows:

Delegates—Bill Whitmire, Milano; Marilyn Johnson, Thorndale; Rick Gommert, Rogers area; Rod Holcombe, Cameron; David Barkemeyer, Cameron; John Youngblood, Cameron; Kyle Deal, Cameron; Stephen Husher, Cameron; John Ferguson, Cameron; Les Davenport, Rockdale; Brian Harper, Rockdale.

Alternates—Alan Gardenhire, Rockdale; Chris Holcombe, Cameron; Anne Harper, Rockdale; Margia Barkemeyer, Cameron; Donna Orsag, Cameron; Sandy Turner, Milano; Herbert Vaughn, Rockdale; Jamie Larson, Gause; Doyce Neal Larson, Gause. Whitmire said 10 resolutions were selected to be sent to the state convention for possible inclusion in the issues platform at the state convention.

“ They c overed ma ny sub - jects including school finance, pro-life issues, the defense of marriage, teacher retirement protections, and protection of our second amendment rights. A complete list of resolutions will be posted on the Milam County GOP website in the next week (w w w. milamgop.org),” Whitmire said.

Resolutions will also be discussed at the next meeting of the Republican Women of Milam County to be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at 6:30 at the Cameron Budget Host Inn and suites in Cameron.

“That meeting will also include addresses from several state and local candidates as well as a talk by District Court Judge John Youngblood,” Whitmire said.
