OAP’s ‘Mockingbird’ to hit stage for Sunday matinee

Milano High School’s One- Act Play will present a matinee performance of “ To Kill a Mockingbird” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22 at the MHS cafetorium.

Cost for Sunday’s performance will be $4 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and students. A silent auction will also be held. This is such a talented group of performers, so come see the play if you get the chance.

The group competed at area contest on Saturday at Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, being named alternates to the regional contest.

Dominique Messer earned all-star cast honors, with Dylan Eastland and Victoria Garcia being named to the honorable mention all-star cast.

The Milano Opry will be held Saturday, April 21 at the Milano High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7. This month’s concessions menu will be hamburgers, barbecue sandw iches and t heir famous homemade pies.

Guest for the show are “ The Tuckers” from Waco and Jeanette Shackelford from Houston. House band members are Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Michael Herod, Billy Barnett, Johnny Foster and Lynn Martin.

Milano Athletic Booster Club is hold ing t he t hird a nnua l Alumni Softball Tournament on Saturday, April 21. All alumni, parents of alumni or parents of current Milano students, Booster Club members and Milano faculty members are invited to play. Teams are allowed one nonalumni player. There will be full concessions available, auctions and lots of family fun.

Cheerleaders for the 2012-13 school year have been announced for Milano High School and Mi la no Ju n ior Hig h. MHS cheerleaders w ill be A llyson Steinbecker, Brianna Roth, Hayleigh Lagrone, Victoria Garcia, Kelly Wadlington, Miranda Oldham, Emily Morgan, Megan Pendergrass and Keely Lagrone.

MJH cheerleaders w ill be Mad ison Westbrook, Naomi Graham, Shea Tibbitts, Camille Messer, Kali Taylor, Cashlyne Blake, Kalie Poehl and Brianna Boykin.

Team Tammy, a Relay For Life team from Milano, will host a “Purple Party” at Nat’s in Milano on May 4 to coincide with the “Paint the County Purple Day” being held across Milam County. Doors will open at 7 p.m. with cover by donation and if you wear purple you will receive a special gift.
