Melton

Services for Gaynell Moore Melton, 86 of Griffin Chapel were held Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Phillips & Luckey Chapel with Rev. L.C. Jones officiating. Burial was in Griffin Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Melton died Tuesday, April 10, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Griffin Chapel to Shed and Della Mae (Cooper) Moore.

Mrs. Melton was a life-long resident of Griffin Chapel.

She attended school at Griffin Chapel and Milano.

She married Robert Lee Melton on Oct. 24, 1942, in Cameron.

Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and Avon sales representative.

She was a member of Griffin Chapel A.M.E. Church and enjoyed fishing, cooking and quilting.

Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by a daughter, Della Mae Townsend, in 2007; her husband, Robert Lee Melton in 2004; a grandson, Henry Townsend Jr. ,in 2006; and a brother, John Shed Moore Sr.

Survivors are a sister, Carrie Melton of Griffin Chapel; and three brothers, William Moore of Griffin Chapel, Floyd Moore of Waco, Clarence Moore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
