Lady Eagles pick up second district victory by run-rule

Lady Dogs end season on high note with win

Milano picked up a 14-4 win in five innings over Bartlett in the Lady Eagles’ final home game of the season on Tuesday night.

The team will finish up the regular season with a road trip to Granger on Friday night.

Milano (6-13-2, 2-7) put up three runs in the first inning, but the Lassies cut the lead to 3-2 on several Lady Eagle throwing errors.

Bartlett used the momentum swing to tie things up at 4-4 in the top of the fourth.

Milano would rally in that inning themselves with six runs, taking advantage of Bar tlet t’s 12 errors.

The Lady Eagles then added four runs in the bottom of the fifth to snag the win by run rule.

Kiersten Bastow, Emily Overall, Elizabeth Bradshaw, Brittany Barnett and Elizabeth Holt each recorded doubles.

Bastow also tossed the win for Milano.

Thorndale

The Thorndale Lady Dogs finished up their 2012 campaign at Lago Vista on Tuesday night with a 12-9 victory.

The team finished the season with a 4-10 record in District 27- 2A play and overall as well.

It was the second year in a row the Lady Dogs missed the playoffs. They were fifth in the final league standings.

Bailee Hilton tossed the win on Tuesday night.

Skylar Sumner and Shelby Anders led the team at the plate, going two for five on the night.

Emiree Smith was one for four with a three run double.

In their final home game of the season, Thorndale fell to District 27-2A leading and No. 18 Rogers 18-0 in four innings. Bailee Hilton absorbed the loss.
