Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce would like to invite the public to attend the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Thorndale’s newest business, Big Texas Hair Salon, located at 606 East US 79. Please join the TACC in welcoming Big Texas Hair Salon to our business community from 10 a.m.. to noon Saturday, April 28.

Owner Stephanie Pavlasek welcomes the community to come see her recently renovated salon and to enjoy refreshments as you get to know her and her associate stylist Pam Whitt. Stephanie has been a stylist for over twenty years in the Georgetown, Taylor and Thorndale areas. Her hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

For appointments, call Stephanie or Pam at 512-595-1165 for family hair care for men, women and children. She specializes in color, cuts and razor cuts and also has hair care products available in the salon.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the meet the candidate event set for 7 p.m. Monday, May 7 at the TACC building in downtown Thorndale on FM 486 South. Local, Milam County and state candidates have been invited to this forum in order to afford the Thorndale community an opportunity to hear from and visit with the candidates for office that will affect the lives of Thorndale citizens in the upcoming TISD school board election and the primary elections.

The school board election is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, with early voting to begin on April 30 and end on Tuesday, May 8. The primary elections are scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, with early voting for the primaries to begin May 14 and end on May 25. Come and hear these candidates as they have taken the initiative to serve our community in elected office. By becoming an informed voter, you will be able to select the person you feel is best qualified to represent you in the decisions that will affect you in the coming term.

Another event scheduled by the TACC is their Annual Awards Open House which honors our outstanding community members for 2011. This Awards Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, at the TACC building in downtown Thorndale. TACC members should watch the mail for nomination forms for each category being honored. The public is invited to attend the ceremony on May 15 and congratulate our winners in each category.

The next meeting of the TACC is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 at the TACC building. This is a change in our meeting date due to a conflict with the Relay For Life Luau event scheduled for May 24 at our normal meeting time. TACC supports the Relay For Life and wants all to attend their May 24 event.

TACC welcomes all citizens to attend their meetings which are normally held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Cafe. For more information on the TACC, please contact Brian Morton, 512-658-5378 or Darleen Tucker, 512-898-2727.
