ENGAGED— Roy and Rhonda Smith of Tanglewood announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kayla Jo Smith, to Phillip James Markert, son of Jeffrey and Marcy Markert of Lexington. The bride-elect’s grandparents are Carolyn Remmert and the late Horace Remmert of Thorndale, Leroy and Betty Smith of Tanglewood. She is a graduate of Lexington High School and Temple College and is currently employed with Taylor Auto Credit in Taylor. The prospective groom’s grandparents are the late Rev. Walter T. Eifert of Houston, Rev. Hubert and Judith Beck of Austin, Lillian Markert and the late Freddie Markert of Lexington. He is a graduate of Lexington High School and Austin Fire Academy and is currently employed with College Station Fire Department in College Station. The wedding is set for May 19, 2012, at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington.
