Sports banquet date changed

The annual Milano High School athletic banquet date has been changed due to the success of the boys golf team which has advanced to the state tournament.

The new date of the athletic banquet is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the high school cafeteria. All sophomore and junior athletes are asked to bring a dessert.

The original date was May 3 but the golf boys will be in Austin that day at the state tourney. Congratulations to Toby Sanders, Jacob Willingham, Mik Mader, Derek Walton, Tyde Taylor and Coach Robbie Robinson. Good luck at state.

The youth/pre-teen group at First Baptist Church in Milano will hold a spaghetti supper at 6 p.m. Friday at the church fellow- ship hall. Costs for plates are by donation. The group is raising money to attend church camp this summer.

The Sunday performance of “ To Kill A Mockingbird” by Milano One Act Play was amazing. What a talented group of actors and actresses we have at MISD.

I’ve heard about a lot of sore muscles but tons of fun has and the third annual Milano Athletic Booster Club’s alumni softball tournament.

Team Tammy, a Relay For Life team from Milano, w ill host a “Purple Party” at Nat’s in Milano on Friday, May 4 to coincide with the “Paint the County Purple Day” being held across Milam County. Doors will open at 7 p.m. with cover by donation and if you wear purple you will receive a special gift.

A live auction will begin at 8 p.m., followed by music by DJ Kenny. The night with also include a 50/50 drawing. For more information, contact Tammy Storey, 936 - 245- 4813 or Marie Bakken, 254- 718- 0133. A ny auction donation would also be greatly appreciated.

We extend our sympathy to the family of Stella Birch who passed away Fr iday. Grave - side services were held Sunday in Milano Cemetery. She was Claude’s cousin, but more like a sister to him.
