Arrests end month-long drug probe

Two Cameron men were arrested Thursday, ending a month-long drug investigation by the Special Investigation Unit of the Milam County Sheriff’s Department.

Richard Wayne Scott, 23, was charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) in a drug-free zone, one count of delivery of a controlled substance and with possession of a controlled substance (codeine).

He remains in custody in lieu of $57,500 bond.

Shane Latroy Ewing, 25, was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drugfree zone, two counts, tampering/ fabricating physical evidence and assault.

Chief Deputy Chris White said its alleged that Ewing tried to get rid of evidence which was located during his arrest.

White said SIU Investigator Mike Clore led the investigation after receiving information of narcotics trafficking in the 100 block of West Seventh Street.

“Evidence was obtained concerning crack cocaine being sold on several occasions,” White said.

An arrest warrant was obtained from Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Sam Berry.
