Lady Tigers enter playoffs on well-timed hot streak

The 15-9 Lady Tigers make the playoffs for the seventh time in the past eight years and 14th overall in the 19-year history of the program.

However, Rockdale has not won a first-round series since 2006 as they face Columbus in a one-game Region III, Class 3A bi- district contest Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bastrop Cedar Creek High School.

Columbus (20-11) was third in District 24-3A behind champion Sealy and Bellville.

The bi-district winner will take on District 22-3A champion and No. 5 ranked Huffman-Hargrave (19-5).

The Lady Tigers are rolling into the post season, having won three straight and five of their last six.

The Lady Tigers will play a warmup game Thursday against Thrall at the Softball Complex.

The Lady Tigers closed out the regular season by edging Navasota 2- 0 on the road Friday to secure their second place position.

No statistics from the game were made available.

LaGrange (22-5, 10- 0) went unbeaten in district play for the championship and will draw a first round bye.

Third place Giddings (9-11, 5-5) will take on Bellville.
