WOMAN DEAD FROM SHOTGUN BLAST

Man arrested; charges expected Monday

  A 49-year-old Rockdale woman died Sunday night from a single shotgun blast to the head and a 46-year-old Rockdale man is being charged Monday in connection with the incident.

  Lt. J. D. Newlin said Sheila Owens was prononced dead at the scene—the couple's home, 802 Wilcox—shortly after police received the 9:50 p.m. call. Stephen Daniell was to be charged Monday.

   Newlin said Daniell walked down the street to phone in the shooting, met police at the neighhbor's home, then led them to Owens' body in the driveway of their residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sam Berry, who ordered an autopsy.

   Newlin said Daniell was arrested without incident and police recovered the weapon involved.
