‘Baffles’ key part of long-awaited noise abatement project by Luminant
The Rockdale area is getting a muchneeded economic boost this spring and neighbors of Luminant’s Sandow 5 Power Plant hope they’re getting some long-term relief from a three-year old problem.

Nocturnal crowd hits new mark at 35,000
Economic impact estimated $200,000; Arkansas man, 32, dies in parking area
The third annual Nocturnal Fest at Apache Pass, northwest of Rockdale, broke its own record for the largest crowd ever in Milam County during the weekend.
Preliminar y estimates are that the two-night music-andlight show spectacular, attracted 35,000 persons. Full Story

The Prairie View A&M University Vocal Ensemble, directed by A. Jan Taylor, will conclude a springtime fiveevent series of Kay Theatre fund raisers with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Patterson Civic Center. Full Story
Two dead in rural Milam ‘murder-suicide’
Two Houston-area residents are dead in what the Milam County Sheriff’s Department terms as a “murder-suicide” last Wednesday.
Investigators said they believe the incidents stemmed from the breakup of a relationship.
Dying at the scene, a home off County Road 346, just off US 79, about three miles east of Milano, was 28-year-old Lindsay Ferrill of Katy. Full Story
City, school early voting ends Tuesday
Early voting for Rockdale’s May 12 city and school board elections continues weekdays through Tuesday at City Hall.
There were 62 early votes cast the first two days. Remainder of the schedule follows:
Thursday and Friday—8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday—7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
