City, school early voting ends Tuesday

Early voting for Rockdale’s May 12 city and school board elections continues weekdays through Tuesday at City Hall.

There were 62 early votes cast the first two days. Remainder of the schedule follows:

Thursday and Friday—8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday and Tuesday—7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All races are contested.

For the city council, incumbent Willie Phillips is challenged by Donald Brummett in the east ward, while Tom Fisher and Colby Fisher are vying for the west ward seat being vacated by Allan Miller.

Place 1 incumbent Mike Pruett is opposed by Jennifer Kellar Davenport for the school board, with Dr. Fannie Lovelady-Spain and Troy Zinn vying for the Place 2 position being vacated by Wayne Fisher.

Voters must use the new yellow voter registration cards which were recently mailed out.

This round of early voting only involves municipal and school board elections. Early voting for the May 29 Republican and Democratic primaries begins May 14.
