Rockdale homicide fourth in past 12-1/2 months for South Milam, second in 12 days
A 49-year-old Rockdale woman died Sunday night in her driveway from a shotgun blast to the back of the head and her longterm, 46-year-old boyfriend has been charged with murder.

Decision day for city, school races
Saturday election will seat two council members, two Rockdale ISD trustees
Rockdale city and school voters will head to the polls Saturday to decide four contested races.
It’s a combined election. Balloting for both entities will be at City Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There has been ward redistricting since the last city election but that won’t affect where voters go Saturday since all voting is at City Hall. Full Story

Students participate in opening ceremonies, games, fun
I n what you might imagine London to be like in a few months, Rockdale
Elementary School was in full games mode as it hosted the school’s 2012 Olympics, complete with opening ceremonies.
Over 430 RES students participated in field games all day, including limbo, bean bag toss, obstacle courses and sack races, just to name a few. Full Story

Junior is a ‘quiet threat’ to everyone she faces
Rockdale track coach Stephanie Miller told Emily Brinkley in the seventh grade that she was going to take her to the state meet someday.
That premonition will come true Saturday when Miller escorts Brinkley to the 101st UIL State Track Meet to compete in the Class 3A shot put.
