‘Community vision’ meeting set for May 24

“G ood business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion.”— Jack Welch

The citizens of our community have the unique opportunity to create our own vision, articulate it, passionately own it, and relentlessly drive it to completion. I encourage us all to get on board and do just that. Tom Mansky, executive director of the Rockdale Municipal Development District, has made that first step. A “Community Vision Meeting” has been scheduled and I ask that all of you come and be a part of this venture.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, May 24 at the Patterson Civic Center. Tom Stellman, President and CEO with TIP Strategies will facilitate the meeting. Tom and TIP Strategies are nationally and internationally recognized in the field of Economic Development. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with food and beverages being served.

The visioning exercise will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will continue until at least 8 p.m. Representative from Halff Associates, the group performing the downtown master plan, will also be on hand to participate. If you are a business or an individual who is not a member of the chamber but would like to be, please call me at 512-446- 2030 and let me show you the benefits of being a chamber member.

FISH FRY—Rockdale’s Masonic Lodge will have a fish fry fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Masonic Lodge on US 77. Tickets are $8 and can be bought by any mason or at Bob’s Speedy Lube. Plates can be enjoyed at the lodge or take-out.
