Cattle, forage seminar set May 24 in Cameron
The Texas AgriLife Extension Service Milam County w ill be hosting “What’s Next: Cattle & Forage Seminar” on May 24 at Cameron Chamber of Commerce Conference Room. Registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. with the program to follow, concluding before lunch.
This seminar will cover presentations by Dr. Jason Banta on cattle economic concerns and the industry at this point and moving forward. Dr. Larry Redmon will discuss options for re-establishment of pastures/hay meadows, weed control issues and livestock grazing.
For producers who hold a Private Applicators License, 1.5 CEU hours (1 general, .5 IPM) will be offered. Registration fee is $10 per person payable at the door. For more information or to preregister for the program contact the Milam County Extension Office, 254-697-7045.

LICENSE TR A INING—A private applicator training and testing will be held on Thursday, May 24 at the Falls County Extension Meeting Room, Falls County Courthouse Room 101 in Marlin. The training will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the test to be given at 1 p.m. Please call 254- 883-1410 by May 22 if you would like to register for the course, as it is limited to 20 people.
Anyone wanting to become a licensed private applicator may attend this training and testing. A private applicator license is required for a person who uses or supervises the use of restricted use or state limited pesticides to produce agricultural commodities. Agricultural commodity is defined as any plant and any animal or animal product produced for sale, feed, food or other use by humans or animals.
No CEU’s w ill be given at this training and testing. This is strictly to get the license. A fee of $50 will be charged for the training. This fee includes all study materials and other expenses associated with the Training.
Please pre-register if possible by going by the Extension Office located in the Falls County Courthouse or calling the office at 254-883-1410. It is best to go by and pick-up the study materials prior to the training.
