He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Miner va to Ryan G. Cone and Winnie E. Dyer.
In September 1940, Mr. Cone enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for seven years before being honorably discharged at the rank of master sergeant.
He met and married Clarice Leeper.
Mr. Cone worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell, retiring after 36 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice Leeper, in 1982 and his parents.
Survivors are a son, Roger D. Cone and wife Sherry of Temple; a daughter, Debra Barratt of Temple; two brothers, Emmitt Cone of Waco, Conway Cone of Minerva; and two grandchildren, Cory Cone of Georgetown, April Cone of Temple.
